The Airfield Page sponsored by

We are always being asked about airfields in Ghana - and the surrounding countries - so we are pleased to present below details for some of them. Aviation is booming in Ghana and there are more and more aircraft operating in the sub-region on the reliable ROTAX engines and we thank them for their support to Ghana and its aviation developments!

If you have some more photo's or information, please share with us - and together we will grow a more GA friendly West Africa. To get back to WAASPS click here.

Do remember this information is provided in good faith, generally taken from a GPS unit (not from the charts, where possible). You are responsible for clarifying any information befrope setting out, and we would appreciate feedback with corrections and additions, please! Do remember that many strips are not useable for 24 hours or more after a heavy rain!!

Mim Cashew Airfield, Brong Ahafo, Ghana
N06 55.223 W02 36.667 850ft amsl
[Approval pending]
Tel: tba

Description: A private airfield established to serve the Mim Cashew plantation management and workers and to provide humanitarian relief flight support for Medicine on the Move and similar organisations.

A magnificent airifeld with offical approval pending.

"We flew over for the approvals documentation and found this to be one of the most exciting airfield developments ever... after 30minutes over rain froest as you fly south out of Sunyani aerodrome you come across the little mountain sitting out of the forest and the runway is nestled a safe distance away to the East. Watch out for mines blasting in the vicinity and route to avoid potential aerial projectiles from same."

Radio/Nav: None at field. Contact with Sunyani down to last 200m.

Runways: 18/36 800m grass/dirt useable, plus 250m overshoot/undershoot each end giving 1,300m cleared. Caution advised due to tree clearances and associated turbulence. There are areas to glide to in the event of an EFATO, but they are limited.

Hangarage: None

Fuel: None

Activity: Private use only, once approved

Status: Private PPR for company business and humanitarian flights only.

Charges: N/A

Hotels/Restaurants: N/A

Comment: One to note in case of need for an emergency landing since there is a lot of dense forest all around and it really adds a safety feature for those flying in the area. If an emergency you could land there now - but do note that it is still awaiting approval from the authorities and you will incur questions, paperwork and a lot of explaining! Genuine emergencies only, please.
