8th March 2010 |
On the 8th of March 2010 at
Kpong Airfield, West Africa's largest private airfield, there will be
multiple celebrations.
Not only are 1,000 Ghanaian girls being invited to learn about aviation but also 100 girls who have never before flown in airplane will be given their 'bapteme d'air'. Patricia Mawuli the first woman to gain Ghana's National Pilots Licence and the first Women to obtain the highest Rotax Aircraft Engineering certificate will be duty pilot on the day. And if that is not enough.... the launch of Medicine on the Move's flying doctor/nurse service will be on the same day at the same location - by Ghanaian lady doctors!!! (the new Rotax powered CH701 medical support plane will partake in flying the 100 youngsters along with four other built in Ghana aircraft) Furthermore, it will be revealed about how the Flying Doctors and Nurses will be focusing on sponsoring women as the key pilots in the programme.... Ghana is happy to be leading the light aviation centenary celebration for Women in Aviation (see http://www.centennialofwomenpilots.com for more details of events worldwide...) |
