Group Visits at Events ONLY

Due to expensive past difficulties with group visits we now only accept goups at desingated events. Of course, the Air Show is one of those!! At the Air Show we can accommodate a few thousand people - and love it! We will also organise a special 'groups picnic' in each year to conincide with the school 'end of term' outing concept.

At the event we can provide a more educative and full visit and be more attentive to student-centric delivery. We also provide extra marshals, security, fire-cover, medical cover, emergency response vehicles, etc - in other words, we take what we do very seriously - and it is costly. Average event prices for groups are between
GHc2 and GHc5 per person.

As we have a very high standard of safety at the Airfield, there are obviously certain requirements to ensure the safety and wellbeing of visitors, staff and trainee pilots alike. You must read and understand the following. Thank you...

AIRFIELD REGULATIONS

• ALL instructions from WAASPS security and technical staff to be followed immediately.
• ALL regulations, fencing and signage to be respected
• NO smoking nor naked lights on the airfield outside of the designated smoking area
• NO alcohol, drugs or persons under the influence of the same at any time on the airfield.
• NO litter
• NO crossing of safety fences
• NO Balls, nor ball games
• NO throwing of objects
• NO touching of aircraft
• NO tampering with fences, signage or other equipment

We recommend closed shoes and actively discourage flip-flops and slippers. (imagine you need to evacuate a group at speed, and they lose a shoe....)

SUPERVISION OF MINORS

Common sense and consideration for other visitors are encouraged among all visitors to Kpong Airfield.

Visitng groups have supervision requirements in relation to the ratio of adults:children (those under 18 years of age) to be provided by you, the group visiting. Please note that students aged 18+, who are normally part of the student cohort, are not permitted by WAASPS to act as supervising adults during your visit to Kpong Airfield.

It is the responsibility of Group leaders and accompanying adults to ensure that the behaviour and conduct of groups does not put any visiting child or other person at risk of accident or injury. WAASPS accepts no responsibility for injury caused whilst at the site, and you acknowledge that you accept the risks associated with an airfield visit.

In the case of a group of only adults visiting, 1 member of the group or its organizers must be designated as the co-ordinator/liaison on behalf of the group for every 20 members of the adult group.

There is a no-alcohol and no-smoking policy at the airfield, and a requirement that all visitors must take note of appointed airfield staff in relation to safety and security. Emergency procedures are in place for the unlikely event of a fire, evacuation or other emergency. WAASPS requires groups to give prior information about any pupils that have special requirements (for example, due to physical disability), when reserving tickets to an event. We organise first aid, but if we know there are special needs we can make more appropriate provisions.

We would be pleased to welcome a representative of the accompanying adults, in advance any Friday, Saturday or Sunday (operations days). This will allow you to view the airfield and gain an understanding of the environment with which the group may not be familiar, and to consider measures necessary by supervisory staff from your establishment, in order to introduce control measures for your particular group.

It is essential that children are continually supervised throughout their visit - it is your reputation and their lives that are our concern.

Payments are non-refundable in the event of cancellation by a group planning to attend an event. If WAASPS is obligated to cancel or postpone the event for technical or other reasons (such as inclement or unsuitable weather), a further event will be arranged.

If you would like to book tickets for the next event please provide information below (copy and paste to your e-mail and complete, please. We look forward to welcoming you and your group at the next event...
