How can I become pilot and what does it cost?

Learning to fly is probably the most amazing thing you will ever do, and it all starts with a trial lesson. Trial lessons start at GHc 250. If you then decide to go on to gain a National Pilots Licence (for Private use, flying 2-seat aircraft below 500kg, under part25 of the GCAA regulation) you will need a minimum of 30 hours flight training. Most probably you will need 40 to 50 hours. Consequently, we recommend that you budget to spend between $7,000 and $10,000 (GHc11,000 - GHc16,000)- depending on how quick you learn, how frequently you take lessons and your previous experiences and skill sets, over a 12 to 24 month part-time course. Once you have your first licence you will start building hours and experience towards future licences - and use light aviation to expand you horizons and opportunities! Perhaps, once qualified, you too can volunteer as a pilot to help with rural medical education programmes?!
