What is WAASPS?

What is WAASPS? It is an organisation with three facets: Airfield, Engineering and Flying School... but there were other WAASPS and WASPS...

In WWII the WASPS (Womens Airforce Service Pilots) - the women that flew aircraft around the US during those troubled time, proving that women are a real aviatio force to be reckoned with ... Twenty-five thousand women applied to join the WASP, but only 1,830 were accepted and took the oath, and out of those only 1,074 women passed the training and joined...

Of course, the Potters WASPS is also a regular visitor to our airfield, hangars and aircraft, the Potters Wasp (or Mud Dauber to some) is a hard working flying creature with short take off and landing and a great load capacity... so we share a lot with them...

Today WAASPS is run, here in West Africa, predominantly by women - young West African Women - and they reflect the same guts, determination, enthousiasm and ability of the North American WASPS of over 60 years ago.
