Rotax Aircraft Engine Training

WAASPS has set a new high standard in West African aviation in the sub 500kg category. We work hard with industry leaders, such as Rotax Aircraft Engines, to ensure that our staff are not only well qualified but also suitably experienced. As part of our programme to make West Africa the best light aviation hub in the world (a long term goal) we run a number of courses,. from familiarization to the iRMT internationally recognized Rotax Aircraft Engine courses.

Below are some pictures from a recent training session in our training room with our Rotax 912 demonstration engine. We also have a test rig and a number of aircraft permanently based at our facilities.

Kpong Airfield is rapidly becoming the one stop shop for aircraft, engineering, engines and training - and we look forward to seeing you very soon at our facilities! Click for contact details.

Kojo looks more closely at a Cylinder head - after making a comment about car engines to make us all laugh. Good humour accompanied by relevant learning abounds at our home...

Capt. Yaw explains the history of Rotax, the 912 engine and tools and uses a poster with all of the parts on it, to explain in simple, understandable terms the engine.

Capt Yaw always has the line and heavy maintenance manuals to hand for excellent diagrams, clarification, checking torque settings and more... as a good engineer should!

Patricia explains a bit more about the gearbox, whilst Capt. Yaw looks for diagrams in the manual!

Hands-on participation is essential and Patricia is taking off the carburetor and inlet manifold using the correct tools, under the watchful eye of Capt. Yaw!

Seeing how things fit together off the engine is essential to understanding - and here we look at the carb and inlet manifold's relationship to the cylinder ahead..

Carburetor servicing is an essential skill, especially in areas with poor quality fuel. Here, Patricia explains all of the parts of a carb. Patricia's engineering skills have been gained during her apprenticeship at WAASPS. She is currently (Sept 09) attending a ROTAX training course in Austria to expand her knowledge.

Whilst Patricia explains the parts of the carb to participants in local language , Pastor Bright Lee (a Korean missionary who is a trained pilot wanting to expand his horizons for mission work) asks pertinent questions about the engine and bush flying..

Of course, it has to be put back together... with the right tools, and the correct torque settings - ready for the next course...
Why don't you sign up for Rotax Training at WAASPS too???!!!

"Do it right the first time... everytime"

and

"Check twice, do it once"

are common expressions at WAASPS because we believe that...

Safety is NO accident.
