| 28 September 2009 | Patricia Mawuli Nyekodzi, who
recently qualified as the first woman to obtain Ghana’s National Pilots Licence, has set another first. She recently undertook training and assessment in Austria with Rotax Aircraft Engines at the Regional Innovation Centre, near Linz, and became the first woman and the first black African to obtain this coveted Rotax Aircraft Engine certification – and she is only 21 years old! | 25 August 2009 | 'Meet the Press' with
the Minister of Transport, Mike Hammah, in Accra. WAASPS was proud
to be at the press conference, along with many other transport agencies,
where presentations were made about current and future transport developments
in Ghana. Much was said about aviation and we were pleased with the mention
of the work WAASPS is doing - building aircraft and training pilots in the
country. We were all very happy when the Director General of GCAA came by to encourage us as we develop the entry level aviation sector in West Africa. |

| 31st July 2009 | Patricia Mawuli Nyekodzi becomes the first woman to gain the Ghana National Pilots Licence (PUP) on her 21st Birthday. Despite winds gusting and a low cloudbase Patricia kept that plane flying and completed her GFT (General Flying Test). Patricia started her apprenticeship on the 1st of August 2007 at WAASPS in our factory building and maintaining light aircraft. This is a big and important step for her as she shows how hard work is not only fun but rewarding too! Well done Patricia!!! (see Fresh Air Matters 3rd August 2009) |

| 27th July 2009 | Minister of Transport, Mike Hammah and his Deputy Dzifa Aku Attivor pay a visit to Kpong Airfield. The Minister took a short flight in AA and took the controls as he flew over the most beautiful airfield in West Africa. | 27th June 2009 | 9G-ZAA celebrate her 1,000 hours birthday today. Approximately 5,000 landings and 40 different nationalities flown young, our primary trainer gets some presents and kisses from the WAASPS Girls!(click here for more) |

| 3rd June 2009 | The British High Commissioner to Ghana came by the WAASPS stand at the Oil and Gas show in Takoradi and discussed the light aviation industry in West Africa with the team. The stand was dressed with Kente cloth, posters and a VFR map of Southern England - which really caught the BHC's eye! |
