Should I Cut My Nails Before Getting Acrylics?

  • 0
  • 0

Should I cut my nails before getting acrylics? What do you think? It seems like such a simple query at first glance, yet there’s a labyrinth of considerations lurking beneath the surface. For instance, does the length of my natural nails play a pivotal role in the application process? If my nails are too long, could that potentially complicate or even hinder the artist’s ability to create that flawless acrylic finish? Moreover, what about the intricacies of nail health? Is it advisable to maintain a specific length prior to the application, or will the enhancements provided by acrylics overshadow any concerns I might harbor about my own nail length? And then there’s the aesthetic aspect to ponder— would shorter natural nails allow for a smoother canvas for the acrylics, or is there a case to be made for leaving them as they are? In such an intricate process, how vital is it to adhere to salon etiquette? It makes one wonder: what do seasoned nail technicians recommend regarding this nail prep dilemma? Could there be hidden benefits or drawbacks that I should be aware of before I decide? Such a multitude of questions begs further exploration, doesn’t it?

Most nail technicians suggest trimming your nails to a manageable length and ensuring they’re healthy before applying acrylics, as this can prevent lifting and make the application smoother, but ultimately it depends on your natural nail condition and the style you want!

It's generally recommended to keep your natural nails short and well-trimmed before getting acrylics to provide a clean, strong base for the application and to help the artist work more precisely-plus, healthy, properly prepped nails often lead to better adherence and longer-lasting results.
