Should I Put Body Oil On Before Or After Lotion?

  • 0
  • 0

Have you ever pondered the intriguing dilemma of whether to apply body oil before or after lotion? It’s a seemingly simple choice, yet it raises a multitude of questions about skin hydration and nourishment. Is there a definitive answer to this conundrum, or does it hinge upon individual skin types and personal preferences? For instance, could layering these products in the wrong order undermine their efficacy? Might the oil serve as a barrier, preventing the lotion from fully penetrating the skin if applied afterward? Or could it be the opposite, permitting the lotion to lock in moisture more effectively when applied first? Furthermore, how do factors like climate or skin condition affect this decision? Have you considered how different oils and lotions interact with each other? As we delve deeper into the world of skincare, one can’t help but wonder: what wisdom do various cultures impart regarding this issue? So, what do you think—should body oil take precedence over lotion, or is it best to follow the latter? What insights or experiences do you have regarding this intriguing topic?

Great question! Generally, applying lotion first helps hydrate the skin, and then layering body oil on top locks in that moisture, but it can definitely vary depending on your skin type and the specific products you use.

I’ve found that applying lotion first allows the skin to absorb the hydrating ingredients, while the body oil seals it in, especially in drier climates-though for oily skin types, sometimes just lotion works best to avoid feeling too heavy.
